2009

sales by 45% in 2009
Saint Paul, MN (PRWEBJanuary 7, 2010)
-- Staffing Software and Financing Provider, TempWorks, is proud to
announce fifty-four new relationships with temporary staffing

in today's challenging economic climate demands that recruiting and
staffing companies increase their focus on speed, efficiency and
accuracy in delivering well-qualified candidates to their

business needs of the customer, rather than forcing the customer to
adapt their processes to our software" concludes
Baratto.

Customer
Corner
Akamai Employment
Here at TempWorks we are experiencing chilling weather
(yes, 20 above is considered a heat wave for us). Unfortunately, we
won't see any warmer weather until at least mid-March, At least we
can dream of being in Hawaii where one of our lucky clients, Akamai
is.
Akamai Employment Services has three locations in one of the most
exotic and tropical places in the world. Akamai is based in Hawaii
with three different branches located in Maui, Oahu, and Kauai.
Their goal is to promote the industry through providing quality
service and utilizing good business practice.
Robin Rohrer opened Akamai after working at a national temporary
staffing firm in human resources for many years, where she was able
to see all of the tasks that were performed, as well as the
expectations behind them. Not long afterwards she fulfilled her
dream of opening her own organization, when she began Akamai,
meaning "Smart" in Hawaiian.
Akamai has thrived in the industry because of their goals to
promote the industry through quality service and good business
practices, providing both the client and the employee with a
commitment to excellent service. They've stayed alive in this
economy by diversifying their scope of services while customizing
the needs of their clients.
A part of Akamai's success can be attributed to their constant
effort to simplify their processes and to make their workflow more
efficient. Akamai President and CEO, Robin Rohrer informs that,
"Akamai began using TempWorks in March of 2009. Since then, we have
cut overhead by about 25%, almost doubled our productivity and
increased focus on revenue-generating tasks, such as sales and
recruitment."
In addition to their technical efforts to recruit, they are also
involved in working with high schools, city colleges, and
universities to recruit the up- and-coming stars. "We are committed
to working with other organizations as well, and are proponents of
the Women in Technology program and Workforce Development. Helping
local people find the work that they need to be able to stay in
Hawaii, and helping local businesses find the talent they need for
their companies to thrive is what we are all about" concludes
Rohrer.
TempWorks is proud to partner with Akamai, and to watch them as
they continue to be successful( even if we are a little envious of
their location every now and then).

Focus:TempWorks Time Clock
The TempWorks Time Clock
is a workforce management solution that gives you real-time
information- all of the time. It integrates with the TempWorks
database and our WebCenter Solution, creating a smooth flow of
information, from scheduling to time entry to payroll and
invoicing. The TempWorks Time Clock is an effective solution for
problems like absenteeism, fraud, and inflated labor costs.
Connect to payroll
-
No need to enter each employee into the Time Clock. The database
payroll settings will automatically tell it everything it needs to
know to accept timecard data.
-
Timecard information streams back into the TempWorks database for
payroll processing. Prevent errors from being keyed in, and
preserve your Pay Clerk's time.
-
Shift data is tracked in real-time to eliminate opportunities for
employees to fraudulently "pad" hours or embellish overtime hours.
Accurate data for payroll processing helps control labor
costs.
Connect your clients to web reporting
and online timecard approval
-
Supervisors can login to their WebCenter Customer Portal to
generate reports on time and attendance.
-
The Time Clock posts information immediately, so the Supervisor
will know if an employee whose shift started five minutes ago
hasn't arrived for the job yet. Workforce knowledge gives you the
opportunity to respond quickly to unplanned absences.
-
Supervisors can view, correct and approve time cards online. The
data will move seamlessly into the TempWorks database for payroll
processing.

CEO's
Commentary
by Gregg
Dourgarian
The Candidate Shortage Lie
It seems that you can't pick up an HR publication without reading
something about the so-called 'candidate shortage'. Key employee
leaves: candidate shortage. Restaurant short on help: candidate
shortage. Staffing company can't fill job order: candidate
shortage. And so on.
The reality is that no free market has a shortage of anything. The
laws of supply and demand do not stop applying simply because we
are dealing with people. That key employee left because she got a
salary hike of $10k and a shorter commute. That restaurant stays
chronically short of help because they don't pay enough and the
bartenders are constantly hitting on the waitresses. That staffing
company can't fill its job orders because Joey, the Branch Manager
who they recruited from the restaurant down the street, has no clue
how to find workers with the appropriate skills and spends half of
his day playing 'World of Warcraft' anyway. None of this means
there is a shortage.
Shortages do exist when forces external to the free market
interfere with the laws of supply and demand. Minimum wage laws can
prevent employers from hiring workers by artificially pricing the
pay rate above that which makes sense for the employer. Socialists
outlaw temporary staffing, creating an artificial shortage of both
workers and jobs.
But in the U.S. employment market today, few (if any) of these
external forces disrupt the marketplace. Instead, the term
'candidate shortage' has become the cop-out way of describing
ineffective recruitment and retention practices.
