TempWorks Time Clock Release Announcement

Eagan, MN 2009

It is with great pleasure that Tempworks announces an upcoming release of its time clock system that incorporate the following changes:

Bug Fixes

1)New clockID metrics for partnership, use more unique information to avoid duplicate hardware IDs in certain systems, no longer use MAC addresses.

All existing clocks will need to be re-partnered

2)Fixed a bug causing the first quickpin use on a freshly started clock to go into an infinite loading screen.

3) corrected a bug causing unnecessary calls to reconfigure the clock. (should result in less bandwidth use)

4) corrected a bug that could cause unnecessary round trips to SQL server when authenticating mag swipe users

Improved message screens

1) Improved error messaging, able to provide more specific error messages to user, example authentication failure due to no WebCenter User account. This will aid in quickly correcting any issues that arise on the timeclock without needing to review trace/error logs.

2) added some details to the successful punch confirmation message, useful with the auto punch feature.

Improved magswipe / keyboard based authentication devices

1) added support for additional magnetic swipe card data lines with KaneSwipe reader (now support %, ;, + start sentinels)

2) added validation of mag swipe data prior to authentication process, new Mag Swipe Regular Expression setting is available in Alt-S screen

This will prevent unnecessary trips to SQL to attempt to authenticate a poor read.

3) added support for any keyboard based devices as if they where MagSwipe devices by supplying a regular expression to validate the input.

4) settings screen is available from main welcome screen with Alt-S (was previously only available after an error message)

Auto Punch functionality

If there is only one punch option available and no paycode or costcode information is required the clock will automatically punch the user.

To maximize the effectiveness of auto punch...

  • 1) Use timecard templates without paycode or costcode
  • 2) use templates without breaks or force the clock to assume lunch/break based on number of minutes by setting a negative value for number of minutes in user config.
  • 3) Ensure employees are only active on one assignment at a time, or ensure that assignments are across different departments or worksites that are serviced by their own timeclocks.
