We couldn’t be prouder of our CEO, David Dourgarian, for his thought leadership article, “Shifting The Employee Mindset From Job To Career,” published in HR.com’s interactive magazine, which posted this past Friday. The article discusses the importance of company culture in regards to retaining employees. This is a widely discussed hot topic, but David has been working it for more than a few years.

In 2012, TempWorks experienced a burst of growth as the economy shifted out of crisis. The additional clients and employees tested the limits of our company’s culture. A high turnover rate and the resulting lull in customer service was the impetus David needed to pay attention to workplace culture and the overall happiness of our employees. The burst forced him to begin considering the relationship between growth and development. Instead of concentrating solely on growth, he focused on the development of human capital and partnerships.

David’s forward-thinking helped grow our company culture. We empowered the front-line and adapted company culture to our employees. Standing desks, snack rooms, reward systems, and more collaborative experiences changed our routine to match employees’ likes and dislikes. We arranged seating to give lesser experienced employees an opportunity to learn and work with more experienced employees. David wanted everyone to feel like a part of the team, and it worked—the changes lead to higher growth rates and the lowest employee turnover rate to date!
